Bringing the best in live jazz to Guildford

Feb 2021: Guildford Jazz Fest Update

We had to postpone our inaugural Guildford Jazz Fest at the Electric Theatre last March due to government regulations preventing any form of live performance during the first COVID lockdown. At that point we postponed the Festival to May this year, hoping that we would be able to roll most bookings and all artists forward. Nearly a year on we find ourselves needing to make a decision about the rescheduled Festival with live performances currently banned once again. We regret to announce that following recent discussions, Guildford Jazz and the Electric Theatre have mutually decided to cancel the Festival. There are more details about the decision, including news for existing ticket holders, here.

We plan instead to put together a separate Summer Programme of events from June through to September featuring some of the artists who were due to appear at the Festival in a variety of indoor and outdoor venues, that could safely cope with continuing social distancing requirements if required. In the meantime we look forward to welcoming you to our livestreaming gigs from the Boileroom! Please join our mailing list to stay in touch and thank you for all your support at this time.

COMING UP: DEREK NASH QUARTET

A vibrant and charismatic performer, British Jazz Award-winning saxophonist Derek Nash is also a bandleader, composer, arranger, record producer and engineer, and one of the UK’s busiest jazz musicians. He is leader of six bands, each with its own unique sound and featuring some of the top jazz musicians in the UK today, has been a member of Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004, has led Sax Appeal for over 40 years and is a founder member of the Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion.
With Graham Harvey on piano, George Double on drums, and Marianne Windham on bass.

The evening will include a Q&A with the band at the end, and there are online Chat and Ask A Question features which you can use during the performance to get in touch,

We’re proud to present these livestream events in collaboration with our friends at Berkhamsted Jazz, Chichester Jazz Club, Jazz in Reading, Scarborough Jazz, Frinton Jazz, Southwold Jazz and Fleet Jazz.
